The Side Fling

I had a great date with a guy at a pub near my house. We went back to my place, had amazing sex and then he left. The next morning he called and said “I like you a lot but I have a girlfriend. But I’d like to meet up again soon.” I guess he was just looking for an ongoing side fling? No guy is THAT good. Dealbreaker.

The Alleged Saint

When I was 16, I dated a girl who happened to be very Christian. I happen to be an Atheist. This wasn’t even the bad part. After about four months of dating, we were at my house. We began making out furiously. After a while, the making out turned to dry-humping. No big deal, right? That’s what I though. After we’d stopped, she bolted up, looking horrified. She then took it upon herself to explain, in great detail, how dry-humping is disappointing God, and that she feels that God leaves her side when she misbehaves. I spend the next 20 minutes holding her while she sobbed hysterically. The next week I found out that she’d cheated on me. Twice.
Double dealbreaker.

The Older Man

I was on a second date with a guy. The first one had gone well and we had a good time. I thought he was in his 30s, but wasn’t sure of his exact age. So on the second date I asked him how old he was, and he said, oh I don’t know, 34 or 35. Of course, after hearing this shady answer I asked him to see his ID. He gave me his driver’s license and it turned out he was 42. Lying about your age? Dealbreaker.

The Undercover Lover

The guy that I was dating was on a role making me feel like crap for things that he did wrong, but somehow turned around on me. I finally got out of that mindset when my friends saw him make out with another girl at a concert and he completely denied it. Saying that trusted eye witnesses are liars and then finally admitting that you accidentally made out with a girl? Dealbreaker.

The Google Alert

As a professional working online often, I have Google Alerts set up with my name as the keyword. I had been dating this guy for about a month and a half. He was super sweet, ambitious, and kind. While a friend and I set off on vacation for a week, he sent me “sweet” text messages telling me how much he “loved” me. Finally sitting down during lunch with my friend, I read my email and found a Google Alert with my name. It was a blog post from his Ex titled “Dear (My Name)” and laid out how terrible I was for dating him and what an awful person he was. He told me she was crazy and I naively trusted him.

Months later I re-check the Ex’s blog where I read he has been asking her to get back with him. Dealbreaker.
